It all started when Patrick Alès was a salon apprentice in Paris during the 1950's. He noticed that chemically-laden products were taking a serious toll on the hands of the hairdresser's and the hair of their clientele. This realization planted the seeds for his idea to develop a much gentler, less harmful range of hair products that were better for us [and the planet]. After all, healthy hair begins at the root.
Fascinated by nature, he decided to study the power of plants, their history of use in traditional medicine, and the role they might play to reveal hair’s natural beauty. It was finding ways to rescue his clients’ dry, bleached-out locks in the sixties that inspired his first products: HUILE D’ALÈS and PHYTO 7. In 1965, Patrick Alès presented PHYTO to the public along with the opening of his very own salon near the Champs Élysées, which is still open today, where his A-list clients such as Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis became beneficiaries of his ground-breaking botanical hair care brand.
I had the pleasure of being a hair model at PHYTO’s launch event at Celebrity Hairstylist (to stars like Victoria Beckham, Jessica Simpson, Eva Longoria, etc.), Ken Paves’ (@kenpaves) stunning, new Ken Paves Salon (@kenpavessalon) in Beverly Hills. At the event, PHYTO’s Global Artistic Director - and hairstylist to celebrities like Adriana Lima, Katharine McPhee, among others - Anthony Cristiano (@anthonycristianosalon) worked his magic to create this Brigitte Bardot inspired ponytail on me. The super chic and iconic ponytail is both both modern and timeless -- and, it’s safe to say, I’d rock this look over and over and over again.
So what exactly did Anthony use to create this look? The PHYTO Keratin Extreme Crème, followed by a blend of PHYTO Intense Volume Mousse and PHYTO Volume Actif Spray, ending with PHYTO Laque Soie.
